Social leads the way in a rather bouncy fashion to the Livewires' base: a rather quaint, pretty little farmhouse. Pausing just inside the door, she scoops up a small ball of black fur, which immediately turns into a demon-kitten intent on gnawing her hand off at the wrist. She beams and kisses it on the top of it's evil little head, and drops it in a nearby flowerpot. It turns its attentions to the ficus in the pot, apparently trying to get in touch with its inner beaver. Running a quick sensor scan through the house, she pouts slightly and flops on the couch. "They're not home." She huffs a bit, then smiles cheerily at Daniel. "I guess we'll just have to hang out here until they get back!"
Daniel was noticeably more relaxed than he had. Something about one on one away from prying eyes was definitly wasier on his nerves. Stretching out, he extends his legs in front of him and leans his arms over the back of the couch, looking down at Social. "Umm, yeah, very. Though, he'd probably like, kill me. Or any person. Magic or not.""Ten, eh?" He did the math in his head. It sounded like they all had different missions, judging from their names. "Huh. I would say it reminds me of my family, but I don't remember them much. Though if they're anything like my room-mates from the academy, it definitly sounds like it'd be fun." Grinning, Daniel turns his head towards Social. "And if they're anything like you, I dunno if I'd be able to stay in this house. I am just one man, after all."
She laughed, wiggling her toes at him. "Don't be silly. He wouldn't kill anyone! Maybe chew your fingers off, but that's it. Probably." she grinned wickedly."They're pretty cool. I'm the fun one, though." She beamed at the embodiment of evil stalking across the living room, having abandoned his destruction of foliage. "You're mommy's good little boy, aren't you Trouble?" The tiny beast hissed, and ran off down the hall with his tail lashing. "Aww. He's shy." "Anyway! Tell me more about yourself, Daniel?" She turned her bright smile up at him, fingers laced over her stomach as she watched him curiously. "What's your world like? Level of technology, favourite movies, things like that."
"Yeah, he'd stop after the first time. Maybe he'd feel like leaving your soul intact. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the little bugger had some way of devouring that as well." Dan grinned. Interesting images, to him at least. He was especially happy when the animal decided to get away. He definitly did not want that thing sneaking up on him while he was sleeping. Or whatever. Mostly whatever, in this case."Yeah, shy. 's fine, I'm sure we'll be... not killing each other in the future, anyway.""So.... Myself. Don't mind if I do. I'm 21, I like ice cream, cake, and pizza. I enjoy the average romantic comedy, action flick, and comedy. Not that I ever really got to see many movies growing up. Hmmm." Leaning his head back, Daniel stares up at the ceiling. Talking about his world. Huh, maybe he wasn't the best for that. "Well, up until a few years ago, I was a student at one of the most prestigious magic schools in Athens. Like, bam." Dan produced a bit of magic from his open palm, quickly closing the hand again, extinguishing it. "My time was spent mostly studying magic at an infuriatingly slow pace, and writing down history. Copying, actually. Eh, if you want, I'll show you the tome I was working on when I left later. I eventually got kicked out due to some... how to say... unfortunate events between me, a girl, and a unicorn. Though that did get the spell to get to the nexus." And truth be told, he didn't really regret it. His tone was almost one of fond reminiscince.Almost."So, after I was kicked out, I decided to depend on the kindness of strangers and travel the world. Man, you wouldn't believe half the stuff I could describe. Entire cities where everything seemed to be made of flashing lights and computer banks. Quiet, muggy cities, places around rivers... I saw it all. And as awesome as you are for a mecha," Dan faced down again, looking directly at Social, "You probably wouldn't have stood a chance against one of our Automata units. Not that I'd let you fight one anyway." Breaking out into an honest smile, Dan finished up. "Honestly, if you wanted, I'd take you back, but uh, I can't. I never quite got the coordinates for my world before I closed the portal."
It's right about now that Auto gets back. She doesn't seem especially hinged towards socializing at the moment--especially given that she's smoking slightly, there are occasional burn marks in her clothes, a chunk of the 'skin' on the left side of her face is missing, and she's toting a massively oversized rifle as long as she is tall--but she offers the two a wave before padding through towards the basement.
She listens curiously, assimilating both the data from his words and from his body language. The magic show makes her eyes light up with interest, but she doesn't interject until Auto gets home. Then she beams blindingly, bouncing into Daniel's lap and wrapping an arm around his shoulder and petting his hair. "Auto! This is Daniel! Can he stay with us for a while?"[Look what followed me home, mom! *grin* Can I keep him? Can I can I?]
Leaning forward from the sudden weight on his lap, he winces. Definitly wasn't expecting that. Turning towards Auto, he tried to use his most pitiful look. "Yeah, umm, I've been rather displaced from my world for a bit, so uh, if it's not too much trouble...? I'll try not to get in the way. Hell, I'll probably spend most of my time in the nexus, gathering information and all that." Yeah, this was a new experience all around for him.
"I don't mind," she says, "as long as I can co-opt you into doing chores." An almost-wink.
A mock face of horror flits over Daniel's face before he resumes his regular grin. "Eh, if you really want. I was kinda hopin for free room and board, myself."
Auto sticks her tongue out at him for a moment, quite cutely.
The android girl pauses, massive rifle balanced on one shoulder. She seems to have lost a boot somewhere--she only has one, while the blue-and-white striped sock on the other foot is quite visible (and a little scorched)."As long as he doesn't bother anything in the basement," she says with a small grin.[I'm not feeding him, and you'll have to take him for walks, got it? *:P*]
She grins, patting Daniel's head with a proprietary air. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll follow the rules, won't you Daniel?"[And I'll make sure he doesn't pee on the floors or scratch the furniture. *grin*]
"Huh, rules? I mean uh, yeah. No going into the basement. Check. Anything else?" If he didn't know any better, Daniel would think he was being treated like a pet, what with the patting and all. Luckily, he doesn't.
With her personal injunction in place, Auto proceeds through to the basement--if only to deposit the gun somewhere. She may come back, depending on how the conversation between Social and Daniel continues.
She beams cheerfully, playing with Daniel's hair. "Oh, just little things. Stay out of the basement, don't touch any weapons of mass destruction you see laying around, never look Trouble directly in the eyes in case he decides to devour you while you're sleeping..."[Don't wait up, sweetie. *^_~*]
"No need to worry about the Trouble thing. That cat scares me." Daniel shuddered. He did not want to have to face that thing down. Fidgeting a bit, he looks up at Social's face. "And uh, comfortable? I could always try moving around a bit for a more comfy position, if you wanted. And my hair's entirely too short for braids, sorry."
"You'll get used to him. He probably won't even try to eat you!" she grins. She looks apologetic at the fidgeting and scoots back a bit, leaving just her legs on Daniel's lap. "Sorry sweetie. I forget how heavy I am sometimes! Better?"
"Yeah, he won't. Not after the first time, anyway. No one eats Daniel Crowe twice! No sirre..." Daniel smirked. He'd prefer the cat didn't hear that, though. It'd probably take it as a challenge. It would be embarrasing to lose a fight with a kitten. Definitly."Much, though you didn't have to move. I'm used to being sat on, and people heavier than you have done so." Dan shuddered a bit. "Though I'd rather not think of those. Ew. Ew doesn't even begin to describe my disgust at those points in time. So do you have any more questions for me, or can I ask you about yourself now? Or what's going to happen next? Or if you've got something for a parched interdimensional traveler to drink that includes some form of sugar?" He was thirsty, but it could always wait. He was comfortable, and didn't especially want to move right now.
And the kitten would probably win, too. Since, after all, he is the earthly incarnation of Satan. Or so he would like people to believe. And who's to say it isn't true? One never knows. She raises a slender eyebrow at the 'ew'ing, but refrains from asking. "You can ask all you want, sugar. I might not be able to answer some things, but you can ask." she grins. "And we have...Mountain Dew. I think that's pretty much it. We don't really need to eat or drink, y'see."
"Well, everything you wanted to know bout me. And I'd ask for more specifics 'bout the other androids, but I'm pretty sure that would never fly. Though I'll to make a note of the fact that I'll be needing to drop by the nexus daily for such basic items as food." He'd do it now, of course, but he's lazy. "So! Favorite movies, hobbies, et cetera and so forth. I'm sure you could answer those, yes?"
"We have some food. I think...cheetos! We have cheetos! And don't worry, we can go shopping." she beams, flopping down on the couch with her legs still in Daniel's lap. "Anyway! My favourite movie is The Princess Bride, and my hobbies include infiltration, information extraction, and knitting. I enjoy long walks, kittens, ice cream, and things that go boom. Anything else?" she grins cheekily.
"I'll ask as I come up with them though. But if your hobbies include that, I hate to see what you do for fun. Blowing stuff up though, that's a definite plus." Stretching out, he poked Social's legs. "So how's about a tour of the place and showing me where I'll be staying? I think we've covered the basics, yes?"
"Silly boy. That is fun." she grins, hopping to her feet. "But anyway! Tour it is. I can show you my room, the spare room, kitchen, etc, but not the others' bedrooms or the basement. How'zat?"
Standing, Daniel pats down his pants, making sure they're fine. "Works for me. Lead on, my most gracious host."
And lead she does! "Here we have the kitchen, up the stairs is the bedrooms (you can use that one there). THIS is Lol's room. Touch the door, and die. Don't go in that one, or that one either." She pauses before one with a kitty door in it and opens it, revealing a fairly ordinary room-with-a-feminine-touch. That is, if one discounts the weapons in various states of repair and cleaning strewn across the desk and dresser. "This one's mine!"
Being the good guest, Dan nods as he views the various rooms, adding his own notes to the rooms. Not there, oooh, there's a nice place, move my stuff in there later, et cetera. He also nods whenever he feels like he has to, basically trying to retain information.Of course, Social never said he couldn't walk into her room, so he does so. Walking up to the desk, he runs his fingers across some of the weapons, muttering "Primitive." to himself. Since, y'know, they are. To him anyway. Perking up, he turns towards Social and smiles. "Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised, should I? Nice room, even with the ordinance lying around. 's a very.... Nifty house too." Right, so he hadn't spent any proper time in a house in a few years. Not like he'd tell Social that, though it probably showed through in his lack of knowledge into these things. Poor Daniel.
She smirks a bit at the 'primitive' comment, but doesn't say anything. Can't let just anyone know about the nanites and things like that, after all. She meanders into the room and flops on the bed with a thud, feet hanging off the edge. "Thanks. We like it. Auto found it for us. She's better at the 'human' thing than the rest of us, since she's so new. An' there's plenty of land around it, too."A sudden treble growl comes from under the bed. Apparently Satan-kitty's territory is being invaded. The audacity of these impudent creatures. There will be retribution, oh yes.
Sitting down on the bed next to her, Dan bounces a bit. "Comfy. I suppose all the land around you would be better. I mean, it's not like mecha are the norm here. Right?" Daniel was rather hoping that was right. He was still rather iffy around Social even, despite his actions. He was about 90% sure she wouldn't try to, like, blow his face off or anything. Good enough for him, in his mind. And of course, he hears the growl. With very little hesitation, he scoots farther up the bed, making sure the cat can't get at his legs. He's seen what it can do (to a plant, anyway). He does not want a piece of that cat, especially as a frail little mage.
"Yup! We're the only ones quite like us. There are other types, of course, but none as awesome as we are. Mostly it's just humans, though." She stretches out a leg and examines her sock; bright green with lavender paisley. There's a hole in the toe, where Trouble had decided to see if he could take her down from the bottom up. Her one visible toenail is painted bright pink."So is it mostly just regular humans in your world? Or is there a lot of people like you?"
Stretching out, Dan lays his head down on one of the sides. "Heh, you're way too good to be copied. I figured you'd be the best out of every other mecha on this world. Nice nail, by the way. Are the others pink too?""Hmm. Well, I know Athens was mostly a city devoted to magic-ry. So I definitly wasn't alone there. Well, my powers were above everyone else, but I wasn't alone." Daniel sighs, honestly missing that place. "But when I was forced to leave, I decided to travel around. Y'know, learn. As good as the old man's history books were, they were still just books. Anyway, other people can use magic. A good deal of them, actually. I learned a few good spells traveling around. I know the east is a major magical area, and I really need to stop by there after I find a way back. I think that can wait till later." Daniel prods Social's leg with his foot, mostly to get her attention. "Thanks for taking me in for a bit. I'll try not to be too annoying. Or destroy anything too much. Heh."
